Agree to Disagree...

Same sex marriage, who agrees and who disagrees?

  1. I feel that everyone is equal and no one should be told whether they can or can't marry someone of the same sex. I feel as if this arguement has been going on for years and years and there is just no arguement good enough and fair enough to stop people from marrying to the same sex. Everyone has equal right and should be allowed to marry a man, a woman, or an alien if that's what you choose!

  2. No one should be allowed to prevent people from getting married. How do you think a straight couple would feel if for some reason they weren't allowed to get married? They'd be furious. Just because two people are the same gender doesn't mean they can't love eachother. Everyone needs to learn to be more accepting of others. Put yourself in other peoples shoes, and imagine the rights they're being denied

  3. I believe that if two people are in love and respect each other and find great happiness together then there should not be an issue whether they are allowed to marry or not just because they are the same sex. I feel this argument that has been going on for so long has no right or wrong decision. I feel people should stop worrying about what other people are doing with their lives and worry about their own. By not accepting same sex marriages, your not allowing two people to share their love and happiness with the person they love the most in life> Let people be who they want to be, whether thats marrying a man or woman, as long as they are happy, nothing else should matter.

  4. I just don't understand.... If these acts weren't legal (because its not legal in NYS) then why did he believe he had the power to offer all of these marriages? I was not there and this is one of the first times i've ever heard of this, but i am a NYS resident and i know same sex marriages aren't legal. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with same sex marriages its just a matter of NYS laws... I just don't understand why people were going through with this ceremony, knowing that in NYS it wasn't a legitimate legal document?

Did Jason West convince them that it was? Is it? How do the people who were married by Jason West feel? What action are they taking?

  6. Colette brings up a good point, was the Mayor helping or hurting these same sex couples? He was clearly making a statement in support of same sex marriage yet by illegally marrying them has he ironically done them a disservice? All involved might have been better served by the Mayor fighting to garnish support as opposed to taking in upon himself to supersede state laws.

  7. Love is love. Why should we put limitations on it? I do believe if there was more love on this earth, we would not have war, starvation, poverty, etc.

  8. Any 2 people should be allowed to get married, its their choice, and who really cares if 2 people of the same gender get married, we already have to many kids that are not properly being care for. The bible has no place in politics.

  9. Two people who love each other and want to share a life together should not be denied the right of marriage because of their sexual orientation. Here is an example of government not recognizing its own biases.
